Tip #1: Set the Dialing Font Size

Users can set the phone to use normal or large dialing fonts. Select Menu > Settings > Display Settings > Dialing Font Size. Use the right and left Navigation keys to see the two font selections. Leave the screen on either normal or large and press OK to set.

Tip #2: Turning Bluetooth On

Before pairing a Bluetooth device with the Freeform, the user must turn it on. Select Menu > Tools > Bluetooth > Bluetooth Settings > Enable > OK.

Tip #3: Opening the Message Menu While On a Call

To open the Message Menu while on a call, press Options > Message. Select the message to be viewed and the contents will appear on the screen.

Tip #4: Turning Location On

Before activating the GPS subscription service, the user first must turn the phone’s location on. To do this, select Menu > Settings > Location. Use the Navigation button to highlight Location On and press OK.

Tip #5: Turning off Voice Command Prompts

The voice command feature has prompts to coach users through the voice dialing process. Users can turn off the prompts by choosing Menu > Tools > Voice Service > Voice Settings > Sound > Prompts > Off > OK.

Tip #6: Changing Language Settings

Users can set the phone to view menus, and listen to voice prompts and key words, in either English or Español. Choose Menu > Settings > Phone Settings > Language. Highlight English or Spanish and press OK.

Tip #7: Activating the Speakerphone

Users can activate the phone’s speakerphone, even before dialing the phone number, by pressing the Speaker key directly above the Answer key. Not only can they use the speakerphone during calls, but also to listen to music.

Tip #8: Setting Phone to Vibrate

Press and hold the Fn key to set the phone to vibrate. Press the same key to return to normal ringtone mode.

Tip #9: Setting an Image as Main Wallpaper

To set an existing photo as wallpaper, select Menu > Multimedia > My Images. Thumbnails of existing images will display. Use the Navigation key to highlight the desired image. Choose Options > Set As > Main Wallpaper > OK to set the image as wallpaper.

Tip #10: Keyboard Shortcuts

The bottom row of the QWERTY keyboard has a shortcut key to launch Voice Commands, as well as one for Messaging. Pressing and holding the 1 key automatically dials voicemail.

Tip #11: Locking and Unlocking the Phone

Press and hold the Space Bar to lock the phone. To unlock the phone, press the left soft key and then press the Space Bar.

Tip #12: Adding a Quick Text Message

The phone has a number of pre-written text message templates called Quick Text, which owners of the Samsung Freeform can use to send a quick message with no typing – or create and store their own.

To access, go to Messages > Send Message > Text Message. Add the recipient and press OK. Press the Options right soft key and select Add Quick Text. Select the Quick Text to use in the message, or press the New right soft key to create your own.

Tip #13: GPS Applications

To access the phone’s GPS capabilities and download applications, press Menu > Navigation. Follow the prompts to select the desired GPS application to use.
