Tip #1: Adding Menu Items to Speed Dial
Certain menu items, such as calendar, voice dial, Facebook, and Internet Explorer, can be added to speed dial for one-key access. To add the calendar to speed dial, for instance, highlight the Calendar and press Menu, then Add Speed Dial > OK. Press Done. Repeat the process for additional keys and shortcuts. To use the shortcut, press and hold the designated key.
Tip #2: Using Microsoft OneNote Mobile
OneNote Mobile is a Microsoft Office application that allows users to take notes, with pictures, and sort them by title or date modified. Select Start > More > More > More > Office Mobile > OneNote Mobile > New. Type a note using the keyboard. Press Done.
Tip #3: Add an Event to Microsoft Outlook
To add an event to Outlook, the user must first add it to the Calendar. Select Start > Organizer > Calendar. Press the Menu soft key and select New Appointment. Enter the appropriate event details and press the Done soft key. The event will appear in the agenda view and be added to Outlook when the phone is synced to a desktop computer.
Tip #4: Installing Microsoft ActiveSync
Before using ActiveSync, customers must download the latest synchronization software to their computer. Insert the Getting Started disc that came with the phone, click the Setup and Installation link from the onscreen menu, then Install. Or, download the latest version of ActiveSync from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/default.mspx. When installation is complete, the ActiveSync icon displays in the taskbar.
Tip #5: Setting up Microsoft ActiveSync
To set up and configure ActiveSync once the software has been loaded, connect the phone to a computer using a USB cable. Select Next to set up the sync partnership between the computer and phone. Enter a name for the Exec and press Next. Select the applications to be synchronized (Calendar, contacts, email – including Hotmail and Gmail accounts – and tasks) and click Next. Click the box next to “Allow wireless data connections,” then click Finish. The synchronization process will begin.
Tip #6: Search for Files, Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks
If a user has a doc on the phone and can’t remember where it was filed, or an appointment that they can’t locate, the SmartSearch function can be used to search for these items. Select Start > More > Accessories > SmartSearch. Type in the item to search (file name, person’s name, place) and use the Navigation key to highlight the box below “Type.” Use the left Navigation key to identify what to look for – a file, a text, an email, an appointment, or a contact. Then press the Go soft key.
Tip #7: Setting a Device Password
Users can keep the information on their device secure by setting up a device password. Select Menu > Settings > Security > Device Lock.
Tip #8: Transferring Music using Windows Media Player
To transfer music from a computer to the phone using Windows Media Player:
Connect the device to a computer via USB cable.
Open Windows Media Player on the computer.
Click the Sync Tab on the computer and choose the Samsung Exec as the device.
Follow the onscreen instructions to sync the media.
Tip #9: Sending Contact Information as a vCard
If a user wants to send their contact information as a vCard, select the Contacts soft key and Menu > Send as vCard. Type in the recipient’s number or choose a recipient from the contact list. Fill in the subject and touch Send.
Tip #10: Access Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Other Social Sites
To access social networks from the Samsung WizPro Home screen, press the right Navigation key five times until you reach the Communities tab. You will find everything from MySpace and Facebook, to Twitter and Linkedin.
Tip #11: Setting up Windows Live Messenger
To set up Windows Live Messenger, select Start > Internet > Messenger. Enter the username and password for an existing account. Contact lists and account information will be pulled into the phone.
Tip #12: Customizing the Message Key
Users can customize both the short press and long press Message key to connect them with specific types of messaging. Select Start > Settings > More > More > Key Settings > Message Key Settings. Use the right Navigation key to choose between Text Messages, Outlook Email, or MMS for a short press. Use the down Navigation key to highlight the long press box. Use the right Navigation key to choose the desired option and press Done.
Tip #13: Viewing Microsoft PowerPoint Presentations on the Phone
To view a presentation, select Start > Office Mobile > PowerPoint Mobile. Select the appropriate presentation folder and desired presentation. The presentation will open. To advance the slides, press the right Navigation key.
Tip #14: Using Adobe Reader LE
To use the zoom feature within an open PDF:
Click on Tools > Zoom
Choose In or To%
To go to a specific page within an open PDF:
Click on Tools > Go To
Choose from the following options:
Page Number
Next Page
Previous Page
First Page
Last Page
To open a new PDF once Adobe Reader LE is opened:
Go to Menu > Open
Navigate to where the PDF file has beeen saved
Highlight the PDF
Click on Open
