Tip #1: Connecting to YouTube
Easily connect to YouTube to watch videos by going to Menu > Media > YouTube.

Tip #2: Setting up Alerts on Call
Users can set the phone to give audible alerts when a message is received when they are on a call. To set this up, go to Menu > Settings > Call Settings > Alerts on Call. Highlight either On or Off, and press the center Navigation key, followed by the Save soft key.

Tip #3: Setting the Answering Mode
When a call is received, users can choose to answer the call by pressing the Send key, pressing any key, or sliding the phone open. To set this up, go to Menu > Settings > Call Settings > Answering Mode. Highlight the desired option and press Save.

Tip #4: Activating Auto Reply
When the user is unavailable, the phone can be set to send a personalized text message to anyone who calls and leaves a voicemail.
Go to Menu > Settings > Call Settings > Auto Reply. Use the Navigation key to move the activation bar to ON. Then, use the down Navigation key to highlight the box below “Reply to Send.” Use the keyboard to type in the default text message that will be sent to missed callers. Press OK.

Tip #5: Creating a Playlist
To create a new playlist within the music player:
Select Menu > Media > Music and press the Access soft key.
Highlight Playlists and press the Open soft key. “Create Playlist” will be highlighted. Press the Select soft key.
Use the keyboard to type in the name of the new playlist and press Save. The new playlist name appears in the screen. Highlight it and press the center Navigation key to open.
Press the Options soft key. “Add” will be highlighted. Press the right Navigation key. “Tracks” will be highlighted. Press Select.
A list of songs in the music library will appear with a box next to each. Use the Navigation key to highlight each song to be included in the playlist. When each song is highlighted, press the middle Navigation key to check the box beside it. Press the Add soft key.
Repeat for all playlist songs.

Tip #6: Activating TeleNav GPS Navigator
TeleNav GPS Navigator is an advanced GPS service that is available on the Samsung
. Users can get their first 30 days free if they subscribe to the service or they can purchase a one-day pass.
Select Menu > Media > Games and Apps > TeleNav. Click Accept to accept the terms. The log in page will appear with the phone number listed. Use the keyboard to type in First Name and Last Name and press the Go soft key.
Highlight “Get your 1st 30 days free” or “Try a Day Pass for $2.99” and press Go. Read the message and press Go. Select Yes to get a brief tour of TeleNav GPS Navigator features before using.

Tip #7: Using Google Maps to Show Traffic
Users can set Google Maps to show traffic on their routes. Select Menu > Media > Games and Apps > Google Maps > Menu soft key, and then Show Traffic. To turn off the Show Traffic function, press the 7 key on the phone.

Tip #8: Changing Language Settings
The phone can be programmed to display and send messages in English, French, or Spanish – and XT9 predictive text even works with all three languages.
Go to Menu > Settings > Personalize > Language. Highlight “Screen Text” and press the Center button to edit. Highlight English, Français, or Español, and press OK or Back. Use the down Navigation key to highlight Input Language and press the Center button to edit. Use the Navigation key to highlight English, Français, or Español, and then OK > Save.

Tip #9: Setting TeleNav GPS Navigator Language
Users can hear driving directions in English or Spanish. To set this up, go to Menu > Games and Apps > TeleNav GPS Navigator > Tools & Extras > Preferences > Guide Tones. Highlight English or Español and press Go.

Tip #10: Email Settings – Adding a Second Email Account
When users already have an email account set up, they can add a second email account by going to Menu > Messaging > Email > Options > Email Accounts > Options > Create.
Users will need to fill in the second email account information in the respective fields, such as name, server, port, user name, and password.

Tip #11: Changing the View Mode in web2go
To change the web2go view mode:
Press the web2go soft key and then the Options soft key. The “Browser Menu” will be highlighted.
Press the right Navigation key.
Use the down Navigation key until “Browser Settings” is highlighted.
Press Select > Preferences > Select > View Mode.
Use the right Navigation key to go between Desktop view and Smart-fit view.
When the preference is displayed in the box, press Save.
Smart-fit often eliminates the need to scroll from side to side when viewing a web page.

Tip #12: Downloading Games and Apps
To download games and apps to the phone, select Menu > Media > Games and Apps, and then the Download soft key. The browser will launch and the user will be taken to the T-Mobile store to purchase and download games and apps.
Choose the category of the game or app and look at the selection, or browse through them all. Highlight the game and press Go. The game, seller, and price will appear. Highlight Accept and press Go to accept the terms of the agreement. Press Save to start the download. A screen message appears when the game or app has been fully downloaded to the phone.

Tip #13: Setting a Song as Message Tone
Music saved on the phone can be set as individual ringtones, an alarm tone, a message tone, or a calendar reminder. To set a song as a message tone, select Menu > Media > Music > Music Player Access > Library > All Tracks. Highlight the desired song and press Options > Set as > Message Tone.

Tip #14: Using the Camera
In order to use the camera, users need to slide the phone open to expose the QWERTY keyboard. This is because the camera lens is on the back of the top portion of the phone.
