Tips & Tricks for Samsung T559
Tip #1: Navigation Key Shortcuts
The different Navigation keys act as shortcuts to frequently used features:
Left key = Create a text message*
Right key = Audio Postcard*
*The left and right Navigation keys are used to access myFaves when myFaves is activated in portrait mode while the phone is closed. When the phone is open, the left and right Navigation keys are used to scroll through the menu icons.
Tip #2: Checking Memory Status of the Phonebook
The Phonebook holds 1,000 entries. To check how many names and numbers are stored in the Phonebook, press Menu > People > Phonebook > Management > Memory Status.
Tip #3: Setting the Music Feature to Play while Multitasking
To set the phone to play music in the background, while the user is engaging other phone features, select Menu > Media > Music > Music Player > Options > Settings. Highlight ON below Background Playing and press Save.
Tip #4: Playing and Ranking Songs
To rank a song while listening to it, press Menu > Media > Music > Music Player > All Tracks > Open. Select a music file and press OK to play. During play, press the 1 key as many times as needed to assign the number of stars to the song.
Tip #5: Shuffling Music
While listening to a playlist on the Music Player, press the 3 key to shuffle the songs. Press the 4 key to repeat the current songs.
Tip #6: Checking Memory Status
Users can check memory status of both the phone and the optional memory card. Press Menu > Media > Memory Status. Press the up or down Navigation keys to scroll between the memory status of Photos, Music, Images, Sounds, and Videos; press the left or right Navigation keys to scroll between the memory status on the phone or memory card.
Tip #7: Moving a Video to a Memory Card
To move a video to a memory card, press Menu > Media > Videos. The videos will be displayed in Line View. Highlight the video to be moved. Choose the Options soft key. Select Move > Selected > Memory Card.
Tip #8: Sending a Photo via Bluetooth®
To send a photo to another Bluetooth device, take a photo and select Options > Send via > Bluetooth. User will be prompted to turn Bluetooth on. Press Yes. The screen will show a list of discovered devices. Highlight the desired device and press Select. The photo will be sent to that device.
Tip #9: Saving a Photo as a myFaves Icon
If myFaves is activated, to save a photo as a myFaves icon, press Menu > Media > Photos. Highlight a photo from the list and press the Options soft key. Select Set as > myFaves Icons.
Tip #10: Vibrate Setting Shortcut
To quickly set the phone to Vibrate, press and hold the D key on the QWERTY keypad. Press and hold again to return to normal mode. If the phone is closed, activate vibrate by pressing and holding the # key.
Tip #11: Organizing Messages
Users can create different folders for easy message storage. Select Menu > Messaging > My Folders. To create a new folder, select Create, enter the name of the folder, and press OK. The newly created folder will be an option for organizing all of your messages.
Tip #12: Zooming in and out of a Web Page
While browsing the internet, select Options > Resize Page to zoom in or out.
Tip #13: Accessing the Web
To open the web browser, select Menu > Media > web2go > Home. To enter a URL, select Options > Go to > URL address. Type in the web address and press Go.
Tip #14: Music Shortcuts
The OK button starts or pauses the music player.
The up Navigation key accesses the music library.
The down Navigation key stops the music playback.
Pressing the left Navigation plays the previous music file in the list. Holding the left Navigation key down scans backwards through the music file.
Pressing the right Navigation plays the next music file in the list. Holding the right Navigation key down scans forward through the music file.
The 1 button ranks the favorite songs by assigning one to five stars to the song, depending on how many times the button is pressed.
The 2 button sets the audio equalizer to Pop, Dance, Classical, Jazz, Wide, Dynamic, Surround, or Normal.
The 3 button toggles in and out of shuffle mode.
The 4 button repeats the current active song or repeats all songs in the list. As the last song ends, the music player begins replaying all of the songs in the order they display within the list.
The Volume keys lower and raise the music player’s volume.
